Elements – Riparian Projects

Riparian Project Managers

Need Help with Riparian Issues?

Elements – Riparian Projects experience working with riparian sensitive areas comes from working alongside Environmental Companies (biologists), Provincial Ministry’s, Municipality’s and Districts in Whistler, North & West Vancouver, Colwood, Langford and Youbou.

Sometimes dealing with riparian sensitive areas can be overwhelming. Elements offer a couple of ways we can help make your project easier. We offer Live streaming – Live streaming is viewing aerial imaging via a monitor. Live streaming is a good way for our clients to visually see their riparian sensitive area(s) and a great tool help us explain their riparian sensitive area situation

Project Management

Elements offer riparian project management & liaison service to get you through the riparian process of your project so you can start building. We offer full development services from land clearing to ready-to-building.

Benefits of Live streaming

Helps us guarantee our imaging

Live stream provides our clients with the opportunity to view the flight of the drone through the cameras lens which provides the opportunity to ask questions. It also gives the opportunity to see their property from different heights and angles (help with development) as our drone pilot collects digital imaging.

Elements use drones (not photographers) for low angle imaging of riparian. Why? Because a drone’s low angle 4k image can provide digital information a photographer can’t capture (safety reasons or access) and its faster. We can capture riparian imaging from multiple angles which ensures we capture the best imaging information (a digital library of plants, trees and waterways).

Our drone pilots have the ability to fly through trees (not over top) no more time spent bushwacking.

Project Management

Where to start? We offer a free 30-minute consultation

Element’s land development experience includes creating a workable riparian development plan, a budget, project management, working with trades as well as experience dealing with riparian & SPEA sensitive areas.

We are not biologists, but we have the skill and toolbox to help deal with your riparian project so you can start to build your home. Having one company to work with can make this less stressful and it is easier to develop your property.

QEP’s are the brains & Element’s is the tool think of it that way.

We work with a great biologist team(s); you have to hire a QEP (biologist) to put together a plan, your paperwork for the Province, Municipality’s and RAPR. This helps you save time looking for a biologist and then finding one who isn’t super busy.

We have paperwork and imaging from our most resent riparian project to help walk you through your process as well as might help with some questions you have. Something to be aware of municipalities (RAPR) change the regulation constantly.

Some ideas on how we can work in a riparian area

  • Using 6 – 10inch perf culvert helps stop erosion and still transfer water evenly
  • Rocks in creek to help stop erosion
  • Lots of pictures

We know where to start.

Why send us first to get imaging:

Benefits of using Elements first for imaging:

Elements have experience dealing with Riparian / Spea sensitive areas and what images provide the most information. Our drone pilots have the ability to fly through the trees to create (25-30 images minimum) a digital library of plants and waterways (etc.) in your riparian area. We use our drones to capture imaging from various high and low angles to ensure we capture the best digital information.

Sending us first to collect digital imaging just makes more sense (cheaper than biologist). We are able to provide enough aerial digital imaging to create a library of information about a riparian area. This can sometimes even speed up process having this digital information.

About

Elements have over 25 years’ experience in land development where a majority of projects required collaborating with environmental companies, engineers, and government.

Elements experience started in Whistler, North & West Vancouver in 1990s when the rules for riparian areas where almost nonexistent compared to today. Elements has over 25 years of hands-on riparian area protection development growth knowledge.

Yes, it seems every municipality and district have different ideas of how to deal with riparian development. The province has their own rules to developing riparian areas too just more flexible. They all seem to have similar premiss to how to go about it. Don’t damage what doesn’t need to be damaged and every move is about what’s down stream.

Elements experience is a combination of time, knowledge and hands experience from developing riparian sensitive areas. This combination of time, knowledge and experience is why we are the right choice to manage your riparian sensitive area project.

Why should I hire a Riparian Consultant for my project on Vancouver Island?

Navigating the BC Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR) can be complex for property owners. A professional Riparian Consultant provides the necessary science-based assessments to ensure your project meets all environmental requirements. By choosing a local firm experienced in Environmental Consulting, you ensure that your development is both legally compliant and ecologically responsible, protecting the natural beauty of the Cowichan Valley.

What is the role of an Environmental Contractor in Riparian Development?

An Environmental Contractor bridges the gap between a conservation plan and physical action. In Riparian Development, this involves the careful restoration of shorelines, erosion control, and the removal of invasive species. As a specialized Riparian Contractor in the Cowichan Valley, we manage the physical site work to ensure that your project’s footprint remains within the designated “Streamside Protection and Enhancement Areas” (SPEA).

How does Environmental Project Management help streamline my build?

Effective Environmental Project Management ensures that all environmental permits, QEP reports, and local bylaws are synchronized with your construction timeline. Whether you need Riparian Project Management for a residential dock or broad Environmental Project Management for a commercial site, having a lead expert oversees the entire process reduces delays and avoids costly compliance errors during the development phase.

Where should I start with my riparian development project?

The best place to start is with a free 30-minute consultation. Elements Riparian Projects can help you create a workable development plan, establish a budget, and manage the project through the riparian process.

Do I need to hire a biologist for my riparian project?

Yes, you must hire a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) or biologist to create your official plan and handle paperwork for the Province, Municipalities, and RAPR. While we are not biologists, we work closely with QEP teams to act as the practical ‘tool’ to execute their plans.

What are the benefits of using drone imaging for riparian areas?

Drone imaging is faster and safer than traditional photography, capturing high-resolution 4K data from angles ground photographers can’t reach. Our pilots can fly through trees to create a digital library of plants and waterways, which often speeds up the planning process for biologists.

What is live streaming in riparian project management?

Live streaming allows clients to view aerial drone imaging in real-time via a monitor. This provides a clear visual of sensitive areas from different heights and angles, helping us explain specific situations and ensuring the best digital data is collected for development.

What regions do you serve on Vancouver Island?

We provide riparian project management across Vancouver Island, including the Cowichan Valley (Duncan, Lake Cowichan), South Island (Victoria, Langford), and Mid-Island (Nanaimo, Parksville).
